RANGPO, May 17: State Horticulture and Agriculture Minister Dawcho Lepcha yesterday inaugurated the High-Tech Green House at Majitar, few kilometres from here.
Commerce Minister Niru Sewa was also present as special guest of the programme along with Rangpo Nagar Panchayat members, department officers, staff and progressive farmers of West Pendam constituency.
After the inauguration, the Ministers and the department officials visited the work place of Horticulture department.On the occasion, 17 beneficiaries from Majitar were given work order in carnation flower cultivation project along with Rs 63,500 each. New technology machines like spray, cutter digger etc were also demonstrated by the department officials.
The chief guest in his address while appreciating the initiative taken by the progressive farmers requested all the farmers to come forward and support the government in making the State a purely organic state within 2015.
Ms Sewa also urged the educated youth to work in the field of cultivation

Sikkim Commerce Minister visits Nathula border
Gangtok,Nov20 : On Wednesday, November 18, a sunny day with strong wind, Miss. Neeru Sewa, Minister for Commerce and Industries and Information and Public Relations (IPR), visited Serathang trade mart, Nathula border of India and China and Baba Mandir. She was accompanied by officers of both Commerce and Industries and IPR departments in her first visit of the area as a Minister.
She enquired about success of the trade mart. At Nathula border, the Minister talked to Indian Army personnel on tourists visiting the area. She visited the conference hall at the India China border. also visit.

IPR Minister Neelu Sewa parleys with officials
Gangtok,October23: Minister for Information and Public Relations (IPR), Commerce and Industries, Excise, Printing and Stationeries, Ms.Neeru Sewa visited the IPR Department Friday, 23rd October morning. This is her first visit to the Department after assuming office as Minister of the Department. She was warmly received by IPR officials. A Departmental coordination meeting was chaired by the Minister. The Commissioner-cum-Secretary in his welcome address thanked the Minister for sparing her valuable time from her busy schedule and appraised her about the various activities of the Department and assured full support and cooperation of the Department.
During the meeting Ms. Sewa discussed important matters, especially regarding distribution of Sikkim Herald and Herald Classified. She advised the District Officials to ensure speedy distribution of Sikkim Herald and Herald Classified to all the Gram Panchayat Units through BAC (Block Administrative Centre) of their respective Districts. She also deliberated on the proposed construction of Soochna Bhawan

Sikkim Online News Association Website launched

GANGTOK, August 20: State Information & Public Relations minister Neeru Sewa today launched the first news portal of Sikkim, www.sonasikkim.com during a function held the Press Club of Sikkim (PCS) premises.
The web portal, a virtual gateway to happenings of Sikkim, has links to thirteen online editions of thirteen media houses of the State. The website is also the official website of Sikkim Online News Association (SONA) which was set up on August 8.
In her address, Miss Sewa congratulated the members of SONA and PCS for the achievement. She also expressed her happiness over the efforts taken by the media here to have online editions so that the news of Sikkim reaches every corner of the world via internet.
“I am happy to know that now the news and happenings of Sikkim will reach to the rest of the world through the news websites”, said Miss Sewa. Sikkim has a good name outside and everyone wants to know about Sikkim and SONA websites will service them, she added.
The IPR secretary MG Kiran assured the SONA members all possible help from his department.
