Sikkim Muslims celebrate Id-Ul-Fitr

GANGTOK, September 21: Id-Ul-Fitr was celebrated today with religious fervour and traditional enthusiasm in Sikkim.
After breaking their month long fast this morning by eating fruits, they thronged to the mosque for community prayers with their new clothes on. Friends and relatives exchanged greetings ‘Eid Mubarak’. Delicacies like ‘Seviyan’ and Shri Korma, a dish prepared with milk and dates were also shared.
In Rangpo, Namaz was organized at Rangpo Bazaar Idgaha Maidan at 8:30 am where more than 600 people were present. Mohammad Khallid, the president of Anjuman-A-Islamia Rangpo congratulated all the people on the occasion. A special prayer was also held for peace and prosperity in the country. Mr. Khalid also wished the gathering for the upcoming Durga Puja and Diwali festivals.
Similarly, the Muslim community of Pakyong celebrated their biggest festival of the year. The Imam of Pakyong, MD Safi Mohammad read the Quran and performed namaz
