Bihar students safe in Sikkim: Bihar CM

PATNA: State chief minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday said Bihari students in Sikkim are safe. State home secretary Afzal Amanullah is in constant
touch with the Sikkim chief secretary and senior police officials of the north-eastern state to ensure safe return of the Bihari students, he said.
Official sources said Nitish talked to his Sikkim counterpart, Pawan Chamling, on telephone after TV channels reported that Bihari students studying in Manipal Institute of Technology, Sikkim, were attacked by locals. Chamling told Nitish that Bihari students were safe there.

The Sikkim CM told Nitish that there was a clash between some locals and outsiders and it was not an issue between Biharis and locals. The three students, who were injured in the clash, are not from Bihar, Chamling said.
