The Everest er Kunzang Gyatso Bhutia was conferred with the Sikkim state award on 15 august as part of the Independence day celebrations at the palzor stadium,Gangtok .The award was handed over by Chief Minister Pawan Chamling which consisted of Rolls of honour along with Cash prize of Rs.100000/-.
Also on the occasion, Rolls of honours were awarded to Project Swastik,Managing Director SIMFED Shri Brijendra Swarup and social worker Thagumaya Bardewa,while the awards or the meritorious service were received by Yishey D. yongda,Samita Thapa,ASI Tashi Dorjee Bhutia,Naik Mani kumar Sewa,Phipraj Subba and Ongden Lepcha.
The Jeewan raksha Puraskar was confered upon Chakrapani Sharma.
Dhan Bahadur Gurung and Ganga Prasad Sharma received the meritorious service awards of Roads and Bridges department while Rajya Van Sangrakshan Evam Paryavaran Puraskar of Forest department was awarded to BO PurnaKumar Sharma,Supervisor Hombahadur Chettri,Forest Guard Ran Bahadur Rai and Zoo keeper Krishna Rai.
