Gangtok,October 5: A team of ten officials deputed by the Himachal Pradesh Government is visiting Sikkim at present to study the programmes and policies of Government of Sikkim on environment as well as management of garbage collection and its disposal in places like Gangtok and UD&HD 's innovative participatory approaches that strengthen the capacities of local residents and organizations working in this areas. According information, the Himachal team led by Dr. Soni was presented a PowerPoint demonstration by officials of UD&HD department of Sikkim highlighting the entire methodology adopted by it to carry out Scientific and participatory management of garbage in urban areas of Sikkim.The Himachal delegation also met today Chairman and officials of SIKKIM STATE POLLUTION CONTROL BOARD STATE LAND USE & ENVIRONMENT CELL, GOVT. OF SIKKIM at their Deorali office to exchange information about its programmes and policies on the environment protection.
