Gangtok: All-India Congress Committee general secretary in-charge of Sikkim Major Ved Prakash received a SPCC delegation to get stock of the political developments in the State vis-a-vis the Congress. The interaction of Congress members of Sikkim not only was primarily aimed at strengthening the party at all levels, particularly in connection with the ensuing elections to the municipal bodies and several city municipal corporations but also to present before Major VedPrakash a status report on ongoing indefinite hunger strike on Issue of Dzongu and recent arrests of members of Opposition political parties on issues of Political protests by ruling SDF government .The SPCC delegation also informed that land for hydel project was being acquired forcefully by state government in Dzongu.
Incidentally, SDF is an ally of UPA government at Center.
