The Sikkim Democratic Front for Hydel Projects in Sikkim


Gangtok: The Sikkim Democratic Front party in a press release issued today has emphasized the need to implement hydel projects in Sikkim to fulfill the aspiration of a developed andSelf-reliant Sikkim .The Press release also refers to speech of Prime Mnister ManMohanSingh where he has called upon the states to undertake power projects as contribution to development of nation.

The Prime Minister said,"We need to do much more to generate and distribute more power, more efficiently. Everyone should get good quality power at affordable prices. I appeal to state governments to take this matter seriously as a weak power situation can become a handicap in industrialization and job-creation. " Sikkim is on the right path as it moves towards implementing various hydel electric projects for a better tomorrow for Sikkim and Sikkimese.

The SDF party says that joining of SIBLAC & Congress (I) on issue of indefinite hunger strike by ACT clearly demonstrated political agenda of all protesting against these developmental projects .The press release of Sikkim Democratic Front has cautioned national intelligence agencies against a cyber-war launched as "Weepingsikkim" website launched from Sikkim and alleged anti-national and anti-development work is campaigning through website. SDF further added that promoter of 'weepingsikkim' Pemzang Tenzing engaged in cyber activities that amounts to anti-national activities.
Meanwhile ,The similar remarks were also made by Sikkim Chief Minister during his independence day speech.
