The Tragedy of Tshering

With the crashing down of rock, Tshering sherpa fate crashed away

Gangtok,17June: Again the remaining rock interlocked in the hill at Amdo Golai fell down yesterday at 3 pm. With the crashing down of rocky hill, the fate of Tshering Sherpa also became crashed. Today in the morning time when all the GREF workers had finished removing off his house by breaking all the timber, planks and corrugated irons of his home only then he reached there. He was shocked to see his home. He couldn’t believe that his house is broken away. Tshering is a carpenter by profession. He had gone to Nandok, East Sikkim a month ago in pursuit of job. He looks after his five family members with this profession. His three children are all school goers. Shocked Sherpa couldn’t say anything. Just few beads of tears fell down from his eyes. When a police officer said him that the D.C. had served the notice to him some days back to leave the place but he wasn’t at his home, he was dumbfounded. After a few minute he was than told to meet to additional D.C. who had come to visit the landslip. Sherpa told the Mail that he is a day laborer. He has land nowhere else. " I had only this land plot for my home only that’s too the landslip took away," The local panchayat member Sudhan tamang, however, said that he had already told Menlom Lepcha, Minister Transport, about his economic condition and the minister too had assured him to do the needful things. His family is now shifted nearby government building. Now he has become homeless. But the government officials are trying their level best to provide him the necessary assistance. "As soon as possible we will try to provide him assistances because among the five families whose houses have been evacuated Sherpa is poor and needy," SDM AB Karki said.Again the remaining rock interlocked in the hill at Amdo Golai fell down yesterday at 3 pm.
