Free Health Check-up @ Rabong Discovered


Rabong Discovered, a popular tourist festival came to conclusion at Ravangla in South Sikkim with a free health check-up camp. More than 450 rural folks from South Sikkim area enrolled and under went free medical check-up on their health.

Most health problems were related to bronchitis, asthma, common eyes problem as reported by Doctors attending the Camp with local NGO's.

The festival was huge success with its programmes and especially with SWAR SIKKIM contest coordinated by Rabong Tourism Development Committee (RTDC).


The Contest was conducted similar to platform of American Idol and the preliminary auditions of Swar Sikkim were held at Gangtok and Namchi that saw a roaring success with large turn out of participants. Some 275 aspirants turned up for the preliminary rounds. The response to the search was very much positive and finally 19 promising participants were adjudged for the semi final round held on 6 April at Denzong Cinema Hall ,Gangtok. and finally selecting Top 10 singers in from Denzong programme where Chairman of Rabong Discovered Shree D.D. Bhutia, minister UDHD with his many cabinet collegues graced the occassion and also announced free giveaways consisting of suits to all 10 winners and tailored to occassion of main festival concluded today at Ravangla.

At the final the top three selected as winners of Swar Sikkim are to be sent for a classical vocal training at a renowned music institute of India and will receive a priority in job under Sikkim government.

The first and second Swar Sikkim winners will get a chance to record an audio album by Rhythm Digital Audio Station and Matrix Sound Lab of Darjeeling and Rajen Rasialy of Gangtok. The first three winners will also get video albums sponsored by Channel Ace Production with more exciting and surprising prizes.

The event was supported by Cultural Affairs and Heritage Conservation Department of Government of Sikkim.
