116th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R.Ambedkar Today

Gangtok April 14: 116th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R.Ambedkar is being celebrated in Sikkim today. The main function is being organized in the premises of Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Gangtok.
Chief Minister Chamling while addressing the function of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar's 116 anniversary at Sikkim Legislative Assembly premises said that his Government has given full protection to the people belonging to schedule caste and other community equally and urged the people to rise above the caste conscious outlook but live with harmony and feeling of togetherness to work for the development of the State and Nation collectively. Dr. Chamling stressed for the development of the human resource in the state and said that Government is giving priority for the education. He said that within the span of 5 years, his Government is spending 15 thousand crore rupees for the development of human resources in the State. He informed that a central team will visit here for the establishment of Central University in the State on April 25. Chamling further said that his Government has set aside 2 percent of budget for capacity building and Rs. 10 crore for setting up of the directorate of capacity building. He further said that by doing so, his Government is committed to create the human resource from the State itself. Earlier, Chief Minister Chamling and other dignitaries offered Khadas and garlands on the statue of Dr. Ambedkar.He even released the magazine Bhim Chetna on the occassion. Mr. Bhim Thatal highlighted the brief biography of Dr. Ambedkar on the occasion. In an another function, State Congress too observed Dr. Ambedkar's 116 birth anniversary at Gangtok.The function was presided by Congress MLA and leader Acharya Tsering
