Radio Misty 94.3 FM, the first and Number one fm station of North Bengal has entered in the prestigious Limca Book of Records for being the only fm station in country to broadcast shows and music in most languages. This record has been included in Limca Book of Records 2011 Edition.
Radio Misty airs songs and show programmes in five languages Hindi, Bengali, Nepali, Bhojpuri and English. Radio Misty which is promoted by PCM Group has stations in Siliguri in West Bengal and Gangtok in Sikkim. Gangtok Nine-FM organizes the first ever spelling contest in Sikkim
Gangtok,Sep14: Kolkata headquartered Chinar Circuits has launched its FM station Nine FM in Gangtok and Siliguri, making it the first FM radio station in Sikkim. With their motto of “Your Song, Your Voice" the FM channel aimed at reaching out to the youth of Gangtok and Siliguri. The identity developed shows a playful interplay of the channels frequency digits 91.9 FM with the channel name–NINE FM. The bright orange as the corporate colour stood for youth and vibrance.
NINE FM, the first FM station of Gangtok is organising the first ever Spelling Contest to be held in Sikkim. The contest is co-organized by CARE-Concerned for Complete Life, a Government Registered NGO of Sikkim.
This contest, first of its kind in Sikkim to be held on 18th September 2009, is an initiative to the Second Millennium Development Goal – Achieve Universal Primary Education. The contest will not only focus on raising funds for this goal but the participants will also be from the primary level – 4th & 5th standard.
Paljor Namgyal Girls School will be the host school for the contest. There will be three rounds. The first round will be held at the respective schools. The semi final round of the contest will be divided into two zones and will take at Paljor Namgyal Girl’s School & Greendale School respectively. The final contest will be held at Paljor Namgyal Girl’s School.
NINE FM will promote the contest on-air. NINE RJs will also give regular updates of the contest in every show.
This initiative is supported by Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Sikkim & Human Resource Development Department, Government of Sikkim, Energy and Power Department, Government of Sikkim. Nayuma and NOW are the Media Partners of this contest.
NINE FM looks forward to take this event to the districts and bring in greater participants. Apart from the regular on-air promotions and RJ mentions, NINE FM will disseminate the mandate of the Millennium Development Goal widely among the students fraternity of Sikkim

Misty Radio dons new look in Gangtok
Gangtok,Sep14:After revamping the year old Siliguri station, Radio Misty has opted to overhaul its eight month old station in the Sikkim capital, Gangtok.
Several new shows have been introduced in the Sikkim station and has launched a 360 degree print and electronic media campaign to create buzz around the initiative.
The station also plans to start a listeners' club in Sikkim, hold regular meetings in all towns of Sikkim to get listeners’ feedback and advice. Misty has already started a campaign in the local print media and on local television, apart from putting up 30 hoardings in Sikkim to promote this new venture.
The station that claims to be the only FM station in the state to be on air for 24 hours, has introduced a new show Misty Mehfil on Sundays from 7 to 10 pm.
This will be a soft show talking about relations and heart matters and will air a blend of old and new hit songs. Apart from this, Heart beats on Sunday from 4 to 7 pm will be a blend of International Music. Radio Misty has also started a one hour show, Shaam e ghazal. Misty also has partnerships with the BBC and Radio Netherlands Worldwide for its infotainment capsules and shows.
Radio Misty has introduced new segments in the shows. Says Misty CEO Nishant Mittal, "We have conducted surveys at regular intervals and according to the feedback, we change the shows and music content. We have always striven to give our listeners the very best in radio entertainment, and in turn we have been rewarded with their loyalty. The Gangtok All India Radio Completes 25 Years of Broadcasting
Gangtok,Sep29: The All India Radio Station of Gangtok has completed 25 years of its first broadcast from Sikkim.To mark the occassion ,The Gangtok Station of All India Radio will relay tomorrow a special programme to be aired starting at 3.15p.m. on Sunday. The only radio in Sikkim airs its programme on Frequency (mediumwave and shortwave in kHz) at 1404 kHz ,4835 kHz,and 6085 kHz from Gangtok.
The national All India Radio is the only radio station in the capital city of Sikkim although there are plans to open 3 FM radio stations in Sikkim by I&B Ministry of Government of India as per information released.
