The Athletics Meet & Half Marathon in Sikkim begins today


Gangtok,October08: Sports lovers of Sikkim are geared into its sports buzz with the 10th State Junior Athletic Meet 2009 from 8th to 10th October at TNA Ground and the 19th Sikkim Half Marathon on 11th October 2009 in Palzor stadium . The event is being organized by the Sikkim Amateur Athletic Association.

There are 3 categories each under the 10th State Junior Athletic Meet 2009 19th Sikkim Half Marathon 2009.

10th State Junior Athletic Meet 2009:

Under 14 years Boys & Girls.

Under 16 years Boys & Girls

Open Category Men & Women.

19th Sikkim Half Marathon 2009:

Under 13 years Boys & Girls - 10 Kms.

Under 16 years Boys & Girls - 15 Kms

Open Category Men - 21 Kms.

Winners are entitled to cash prizes. NINE FM Gangtok will catch the excitement of the Athletic Meet on-air. Live links will be aired from the venue. Apart from this, NINE FM will also air interview of the participants.

Sikkim's first FM radio station NINE FM (91.9)  announced Miss Choden  Tamang of DPH, Gangtok as Winner of Dashai Malamaal SMS Contest and Rajshree Subba of  NINE FM presented her with a Television Set, Reebock Watch, Gift Vouchers of Rs.5000/- for branded readymade dresses and Rs.1500/-Gift Voucher for dinner in a Gangtok restaurant.

Gangtok Nine-FM organizes the first ever spelling contest in Sikkim

Gangtok,Sep14:  Kolkata headquartered Chinar Circuits has launched its FM station Nine FM in Gangtok and Siliguri, making it the first FM radio station in Sikkim. With their motto of “Your Song, Your Voice" the FM channel aimed at reaching out to the youth of Gangtok and Siliguri. The identity developed shows a playful interplay of the channels frequency digits 91.9 FM with the channel name–NINE FM. The bright orange as the corporate colour stood for youth and vibrance.

NINE FM, the first FM station of Gangtok is organising the first ever Spelling Contest to be held in Sikkim. The contest is co-organized by CARE-Concerned for Complete Life, a Government Registered NGO of Sikkim.

This contest, first of its kind in Sikkim to be held on 18th September 2009, is an initiative to the Second Millennium Development Goal – Achieve Universal Primary Education. The contest will not only focus on raising funds for this goal but the participants will also be from the primary level – 4th & 5th standard.

Paljor Namgyal Girls School will be the host school for the contest. There will be three rounds. The first round will be held at the respective schools. The semi final round of the contest will be divided into two zones and will take at Paljor Namgyal Girl’s School & Greendale School respectively. The final contest will be held at Paljor Namgyal Girl’s School.

NINE FM will promote the contest on-air. NINE RJs will also give regular updates of the contest in every show.

This initiative is supported by Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Sikkim & Human Resource Development Department, Government of Sikkim, Energy and Power Department, Government of Sikkim. Nayuma and NOW are the Media Partners of this contest.

NINE FM looks forward to take this event to the districts and bring in greater participants. Apart from the regular on-air promotions and RJ mentions, NINE FM will disseminate the mandate of the Millennium Development Goal widely among the students fraternity of Sikkim

Sikkim hunts for Dance Talent

Gangtok,August21: NINE FM the first FM station of SIKKIM is playing the role of the official radio partner to Swar Sikkim Dance Galaxy for Natraj Championship 2009.

After its stint in the field of music and songs with Swar Sikkim-I, Bal Tara, Lok Dohori Competition, Nepali lyrics writing competition, etc, Swar Sikkim has now ventured into organizing ‘Dance Galaxy Natraj Championship 2009’.

As part of its association, NINE FM is promoting the entire event on air. Through NINE FM, Swar Sikkim announces the auditions and invites the people to participate. The event will provide a platform for the local people of Sikkim to showcase their dancing skill.

Dance Galaxy Natraj Competition 2009 is a “Group Dance Competition” where a minimum of six participants and maximum of 10 are allowed in one dancing group. Each dancing group can perform any form of dance - folk, filmy, contemporary or fusion and in any costume or in casual dress. They will be judged on the basis of basic dancing skills and choreographic talent.

The auditions for Swar Sikkim dance competition concluded for North District on August 18. From among the 20 groups, only 12 groups have been selected to vie for the top 10. The audition round for West District will be held on August 22 followed by auditions for the South District at Namchi on August 25 & East District, Gangtok on August 31.

All selected groups will have to face “Final Audition for Top Ten” on September 2. Out of top ten groups only four will be shortlisted for the grand finale. The participants will be judged by a panel of experts like Pema Choden, a prominent Bollywood dancer & choreographer, Kamal Rai, noted choreographer and dance director from Kathmandu Film Industry and Uttam Pradhan, Nepali Actor of Darpan Chaya Fame.

The winner of the competition will win a cash award of Rs.1 lakh along with Gift Hampers, trophies & Certificates.

NINE FM aims to create the perfect forum for the local talent and also aims to promote them through its medium. Dance Galaxy Natraj Competition 2009 is one such step towards bringing forth & recognizing local talents. Nine FM celebrates the 62nd Independence Day in Sikkim


Gangtok: It is time to celebrate the spirit of freedom in the form of the 62nd Independence Day and NINE FM, Siliguri and Gangtok is all geared up to spread the word of freedom, love and friendship among the people of both North Bengal and Sikkim.

The morning of 15th August 2009 will begin with the traditional National Anthem and this will act as a harbinger to the various events and activities lined up for the day. NINE FM will be a part of the Independence Day celebrations in various schools and colleges , where NINE will be interacting live with the people there and taking their wishes.

Nine FM is giving the people the freedom of expression of their love for the nation through the ‘Freedom Wall’ being put up at one of the largest malls of the city. People will be invited to write messages and slogans on the wall and the best message/slogan will win exciting prizes.

Nine FM, Gangtok is celebrating the day with great pomp and show at Paljor Namgyal Indoor Stadium. Regular updates of all events will be aired live from the venue.
Along with celebration of Independence Day, people have yet another reason to celebrate in the form of the on-air slogan writing contest “I am Proud to be an Indian”, running in both the stations, which will entitle listeners a chance to win loads of exciting prizes.
