GANGTOK, August 28: The first meeting of Sikkim Police Board chaired by Chief Minister Pawan Chamling was held today here at the conference hall of Sikkim Police Headquarters.
The meeting was also attended by Chief Secretary CM Ravindran, DGP CM Ravindran and other members of the board along with senior officials of the police department.
The meeting deliberated on the internal security aspects of Sikkim and other important matters pertaining to the police department, it is informed.
Briefing the media after the meet, DIG (Range) Shreedar Rao said that the Sikkim Police Board meeting was on the internal security of the State.
The meeting deliberated on enhancing the Special Task Force of Sikkim Police, recruit of new police personnel and other confidential matters, it is informed.
The meeting also decided that two battalions of Indian Reserve Battalion will be added in the State with a view to provide a platform to the local youth for employment and to serve the nation.
The Sikkim Police Board has been tasked to frame the policy decision for modernization, up-gradation and infrastructure related to strengthening law and order including regulation of State force within Sikkim
