Bhaichung Bhutia is a role model: Sikkim CM Chamling

GANGTOK, August 28: Chief Minister Pawan Chamling has congratulated Indian football team captain Bhaichung Bhutia for making Sikkim proud through his latest achievement.
Bhutia, who is from Tinketam village in South Sikkim, had recently claimed the feat of representing India for 100 games.

“Bhaichung Bhutia is a role model. He is the pride of Sikkim and nation”, said Mr. Chamling to reporters on the sidelines of a seminar today here at Gangtok. He pointed out that the State government has already named a stadium in South after Bhaichung Bhutia.

We need for Bhaichungs, said Mr. Chamling.
Sikkim Football Association (SFA) which is affiliated to All India Football Association (AIFF) has also congratulated Bhutia for his achievement.

“We extend our congratulations to Bhaichung Bhutia. We are really proud of him”, said Menla Ethanpa, general secretary of SFA. He pointed out the SFA has been regularly felicitating Bhaichung Bhutia and had last year organized a special exhibition match here at Paljor Stadium where Bhaichung Bhutia and his national team mates played against a Kolkata club.

Similarly, Bhutia’s close friend and former East Bengal player Sherap Lepcha also expressed similar observations.
Mr. Lepcha handles Bhaichung’s home club, United Sikkim Sporting Club (USSC).

“We from USSC are very proud of Bhaichung and he has not only made Sikkim proud but also done great service to the nation. We express our best wishes that he will continue to play more tournaments”, said Mr. Lepcha.
“The service which Mrs. Pakhrin has done in the teaching profession has been commendable. She deserves this award,” said her former colleagues at Pakyong.
