Gangtok:The enquiry into alleged disproportionate disbursement of the compensation to the Tees ta Stage V affected people has been ordered and same has been handed over to the Vigilance Directorate of Sikkim.

It is informed that the vigilance enquiry is already into its initial stages. Takeover of the enquiry by Vigilance was precipitated by reports in Sikkim media that some unscrupulous amins having indulged into favoritism while disbursing the monetary component of compensation among the people of Rakdong tintek and Khamdong.this was based on the allegations by some locals of the area that they have not received their due and the others has pocked more than their share.

The compensation relates to the Rs1.06 crores that was released by the NHPC-The Teesta stage V developer, in June this year.the amount was released as additional compensation for families affected by the18 km long tunnel constructed as a part of the project. This amount was distributed to around 400 families by district administration few weeks ago.

Officials at the District Office here at Gangtok informs that they have not come across any evidence of inappropriate conduct on the part of the amins, at least as far as records shows. The district officials have gone through the records s and the documents of damage claims and disbursements and have not come across any incriminating evidence etc, reports suggested.

However,The Vigilance enquiry has thought it fit to take over the enquiry process. The District office also disclose though nothing incriminating has been found in the documents pertaining to the disbursements of compensations ,the next step would've to go to the affected area and make-on-spot enquiry if any wrong doing has been indulged into by anyone in compensation distribution.
