
The Chief Minister while addressing the gathering informed that Sikkim have one of the most liberalized policies for licensing and the availability of tax incentives for Industries and Investors in State. Dr.Chamling deliberated on the historic background of the Silk Route and also highlighted the initiative taken by the SDF government for the Sikkim's development. Investment opportunities in food processing, horticulture, floriculture, spices and tourism sectors was discussed in the meeting.The primary objective of the 'Sikkim Investors Meet-2007' was to facilitate private sector investment in the state.

He said if parties who are implementing Teesta IV hydel projects fails to meet their obligations and commitments in creating job opportunities for Sikkimese people in non-technical category,than Government would not hesitate to review their contracts and award them to an agency which is more committed to meet agreed commitments on job opportunities.
Chief Minister also spoke about need to ensure that all the job opportunities in hotels and tourism sector should be made available to local people and directed UD&HD to make sure this is done in true spirit.further, Dr.Chamling hoped that work force in distilleries and brewery in Sikkim are provided their adequate & rightful facilities. Small contracts by developers of hydel projects should be given to local residents of the area concerned.
The Investors Meet'2007 was also addressed by Commerce&Industry minister R.B.Subba,Secretary MG Kiran of Commerce & Industries dept, Alok Srivastava,Secretary Tourism, D.Pradhan,Secretary Power & Energy.
