SDF condemns Nar Bahadur Bhandari's statement

Gangtok: The spokesperson of Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) party Shri Bhim Dahal has condemned the statement of Shri Nar Bahadur Bhandari to media that SDF government has failed to tackle the issue of Affected Citizens of Teesta (ACT) and policy of state government to implement hydel project in Sikkim as anti-people.

In a statement issued here today Mr Dahal said Mr. Bhandari has no right to comment on leadership of Sikkim Democratic Front and its functioning style.Chief Minister Dr. Pawan Chamling does not need approval or suggestions on when to stay at his residence or undertake tours of state.
SDF spokesperson also said that statement like state government has failed to solve ACT issue is nothing more than a figment of the imagination of Congress leaders like Mr.Bhandari as it is well known public fact that a high powered committee under Chief Secretary to Government of Sikkim appointed by Sikkim Chief Minister Dr.Chamling is already looking into the issue and have made several rounds of dialogue to find a mutually acceptable solution in larger interests of Sikkim and its policy. SDF government is committed to uphold the sanctity of Dzongu and the special status enshrined in Constitution by article 371F.

He said that Sikkim Democratic Front party under the leadership of Dr.Pawan Chamling has always worked for the benefit of Sikkim and its people and would continue its fight against forces within and outside the state, which, he alleged, were hell bent on causing irreparable damage to the peaceful development of Sikkim. He said leaders should desist labelling development activities for the benefits of Sikkim and its future as anti-people.

Mr. Dahal also said that launch of Internet website of ACT by name "Weeping Sikkim" has caused damage to the goodwill and reputation of Sikkim worldwide.
