The restaurant at Sikkim House,Kolkatta

Kolkatta:The gastronomical needs of the Sikkimese population are nowadays fulfilled through countless Tibetan eateries that have mushroomed around the city of Kolkatta. “The Sikkimese cuisine comprises the Tibetan staples too, momos and thukpa (noodles in soup). Since momos are hugely popular with Kolkatans, there are quite a few restaurants that serve this dish. Though the quality of the food is something I have serious doubts about,” states Sonam Wangchuk, an employee with TCS. The true flavours of Sikkim, he adds, can be sampled only in one particular eatery in the city: the restaurant at Sikkim House. “ The shaley (a meat pie) there is simply out of this world. It makes me feel at home,” sums up Wangchuk.
