Heart attack kills veteran Sikkim IAS Officer

Former Chief Secretary of Sikkim Shri S.W. Tenzing is No more
Government of Sikkim declares Funeral Day on July 20 as a Public holiday in respect of Shri S.W.Tenzing.

Gangtok:The former Chief Secretary of Sikkim S.W.Tenzing,IAS has died this morning following an massive heart attack at his residence Bhojoghari, 15 Kilometre away from Gangtok Town ,His wife, a medic herself, tried desperately to revive him. He was 60.
Born on February 16, 1947, Shri Tenzing had rendered his valuable service in different capacities in Government of Sikkim since 1973.
A 1971 batch IAS officer, Tenzing had done his masters in History from St Stephens College and studied MSc from Bradford in the UK. He also worked as Under Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Government of India on deputation in 1981 and then Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Govt. of India in 1983 and then promoted to Deputy Secretary there. He became the Secretary` to Government of Tripura from 1986 to 1989 and he became Commissioner cum secretary, Government of Sikkim in 1990. He became Chief Secretary, Government of Sikkim in 2000 and Advisor to Government in 2004.
His sudden death left behind a legacy of deep community involvement and uprightness in service as an IAS officer.The Chief Minister, Dr. Pawan Chamling in a press statement issued by IPR Department has expressed his deep shock and anguish over the sudden demise of Shri Tenzing. In his condolence message the Chief Minister described Shri S.W. Tenzing as a very competent officer and efficient administrator.
