Dzongu Land Owners Seeks Compensation For Their Land


Gangtok:The landowners of the Dzongu in North Sikkim whose lands falls under Panan Hydro-electric project appealed on July27 to Government of Sikkim to grant compensation at the earliest.

In a press release signed by more than 67 land owners of Dzongu says that their demand has been made following the compensation paid to the land owners of Teesta Stage III of Chungthang,North Sikkim.

The release reads that 95% of land owners of Dzongu have welcomed the Panan Project and have also expressed their "happiness" over the proposed project."The project has brought a hope for the people of Dzongu which will bring in development and prosperity to the area" the release reads.

"We also condemn the protest carried out by the few anti -development elements" it adds.

The press release further says that after getting mandate support from the land owners there should be no delay in starting the panan project in Dzongu.
