Darjeeling: The frequent theft in the Chowkbazaar has been stopped for last few months. In an initiative of Mr. Dinesh Gurung (Kaila), ward commissioner of 25, Chowkbazaar security group has been formed, who will look after the Chowkbazaar day and night.Nine security personals have been employed, 6 guards will carry out their duties during night and 3 during the day. The security personals are armed with Khukuri and stick. Drug users, burglars etc. are being handed over to police station by the group, police department is also cooperating with this security group.Each security staff is getting Rs 2000/- per month as remuneration. Rs 50/- per month is being charged to each shop at Chowkbazaar for their security, which can be called any time required.
