Ms.Sumit Dahal is Thunder Miss Sikkim 2007

Sumeet Dahal of Namchi crowned as Thunder Miss Sikkim 2007

Gangtok : The thirteen young beautiful women of Sikkim dazzled in the finals of Thunder Miss Sikkim 2007 night organised in the Hotel Rendozvous in the electric atmosphere of music,discothetic lights as they stage their catwalks in traditional costumes of Sikkim as well as faishonable attire before a panel of judges and local page three gathering .The Chief guest of the beauty pagent evening was DIG range IPS Akshay Sachdeva who gave away most of the awards.


The beauty contest is making a comeback after five years, thanks to the efforts of the organisers, Rotary Club of Gangtok (South) and S.K. Audiovision, a music and event management company based in the Sikkim capital. The awards were presented to winners of Miss Beautiful Hair, Miss Beautiful Smile, Miss Personality, Miss Congeniality . The Nayuma Television give away awards for winners and runnersup of Miss Sikkim (sms)2007. The Winner of the Contest Ms. Sumeet Dahal of Namchi,south sikkim won loads of prizes and also got a chance to represent Sikkim in the Mega Miss North East to be held later this year. All her expenses during the trip will be borne by the sponsors.The three first winners of SMS Miss Sikkim are Pema Dichen, Rinchen Bhutia, Deekila Bhutia. Altogether, 13 participants only had taken part in which only five contestants had made it for final rounds.

Mount Distilleries ,Sikkim is the main sponsor of the event and Mr.Rishi Mittal alcoholic beverage Thunder in the final rounds of show today.Rotary Club of Gangtok plans to spend the proceeds of the show on community service in the state

THUNDER MISS SIKKIM 2007 @ SMILEWORLD

THUNDER MISS SIKKIM 2007 BEGINS

Gangtok: Thunder Miss Sikkim 2007 presented by Rotary Club of Gangtok South and Sponsored by Mount Distilleries Limited & Sikkim Sparkle is open for single girls between 17 to 24 years and who have at least height of 5'3". The participant must be a resident of Sikkim.

According to the organisers, the beauty contest would help the female models from the state to prepare for the upcoming “Mega North East 2007” and the “Gladrags Miss India” contests. “The club is organising the contest for the first time in the state. “The main objective behind organising the event is to help the youngster to shine in the field of modelling,” he added. The three winners of the beauty contest would get an opportunity to participate in the “Mega North East 2007” contest to be held in Guwahati. “The winners would also get a chance to participate in the Miss India contest,” the organisers, said. “To qualify for the national and regional level beauty contests, it is necessary for the female models from the state to first participate in a state level competition. The upcoming Miss Sikkim contest would help the female models a lot,” they said.

The beauty Contest will be held at Smile World on August 15. The Judges of Contest after screening of applicants has chosen 12 girls to participate in preliminary round scheduled to be held on August 13 and The participants at present are undergoing grooming session at a local hotel here in Gangtok and would be groomed in various modules for three days. The first day of grooming session was conducted by Sarika Atreya,a journalist with Sikkim Express on topic of general knowledge and how to answer judge's question.

Thunder Miss Sikkim 2007 Organisers said efforts would be made to encourage local talent. The final round of contest would be held on August 15 with final five participants.
