130 FT TALL CHENREZIG STATUE @ SANGA CHOELING MONASTERY,SIKKIM
GYALSHING, November 26: Chief Minister Pawan Chamling today called upon all the people to uphold peace and religious harmony in the State.
Mr. Chamling said this while laying the foundation stone of 130 ft tall statue of Chenrezig, the Lord Buddhist Lord of Compassion to be built near Sanghachoeling monastery in Pelling, West Sikkim.
The Chief Minister, who was accompanied by the MLAs of West District during the ceremony said, this statue to be built with a fund of Rs. 113 crores would be one of the tallest structures in the world.
“We want Sikkim to grow as one of the pilgrimage tourist destinations and I am hopeful that the statue would attract more numbers of international devotees,” the CM said in his brief address.
He said, the vision of the SDF government is to promote and preserve religious and communal harmony in Sikkim and that he added would be possible once the people realize their roles and responsibilities towards the State.
Mr. Chamling also announced that the world’s tallest statue of Buddha Shakyamuni would be built in the years to come after the establishing of ITI and several training centres in the District. More religious institutions such as Church, monasteries, temples, Mangkhims, etc will also be built, he said while announcing that a meditation centre would be constructed in West Sikkim to promote Buddhist literature and culture.
At the same time, the CM on seeing the road conditions of West Sikkim assured for its immediate renovation.
Later in the evening, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the newly built tunnel of NHPC at Reshi, West Sikkim

Bike freak Milan Pradhan in Stunt Mania @ GAYLSHING

GAYLSHING: In what is one of the first of its kind events to be organised here in the Sikkim, audiences in the thousands here in the West district headquarters got taste of local biking prodigy Milan Pradhan on 15th August yesterday.
For the first time a biking stunt show extravagantly called Milan Pradhan in Stunt Mania was held here at Gaylshing taxi stand where he gave the audiences an hour of pure biking magic and exclusive stunts one usually sees on reality shows and television. Infact Milan Pradhan the man from Tashiding has also auditioned for the MTV stunting show, Stunt Mania and shall probably the first person from the hills to appear in the next sequel of the show for the music television.
The event at Gaylshing Taxi stand was organised by Palbheu Production Pvt. Ltd, a production house from Gangtok which had also themed the hour long show with DJ music, cheer girls and focus lights and event to aspire the young generation, give budding talents a platform and importantly keep them away from Drugs and Alcohol. The company Production manager, Dipak Gurung was quoted as saying, “The main objective is to give the message to the youth who have all the capcity and talent in them to perform, what they need is heros like Milan Pradhan to follow suit. The youth should realise that where there is a will there is way and what better audience and day than the 63rd Independence Day to mark the event”.
Probably one of the biggest aufdiences the state has witnessed in a perticular show, Milan Pradhan’s stunt mania has reached out to the general public as one could see from the sudience, from ypung to the old, families from most villages around the area including Pelling, Namchi, Ravangla, Legshep and Jorethang had culminated here at the taxi stand.
The production company had set a message and the message went through since even the chief guest for the event, area MLA, PL Suba and Deputy Speaker, MB dahal were so appreciative that the first thing they did after the dazziling performance was to personally come into the performing area and congratulate the biker, Milan Pradhan and his stunt partner Rojer Joshi.
The two performed a mixed bag of stunts to a musical extravaganza whch included tracks from Deep Purple’s Highway Star and AC/DCs Ball Bearer. The coreography of the show was to delightfully presented that Geyzing shall remember the event for a long long time.
Palbheu Production whicle speaking to this reporter also highlighted the support and cooperation of the Distcrt Administartion and specially Distcrit Collector, Santa Pradhan who had earlier at the 15th August Day celebrations at Kyongsa Ground released the Production companys film on Disaster Management which has been funded by UNDP and the West Distcrit Collectorate. “Encouragement and cooperation is what we seek for, as a private company we aspire to do so many things to bring out the best within the state but for that we need the support from the government which positively we have recived from the administartion. We hope that this initiative goes a long way in facilitating the vision of our chief minister, Pawan Chamling”, stated Mr. Gurung
