Gangtok: 29th May: Secretary, Sports Department, Mr. Karma P Bhutia assured of promoting Sikkim Amateur Taekwondo Association (SATA) in the long term, today here in the daylong event “Inter Dojang Taekwondo Championship 2011” held at Paljor Stadium, Gymnasium Hall, Gangtok organized by Sikkim Amateur Taekwondo Association (SATA).
Sports Secretary also mentioned that the effort put by the association is an example for everyone to follow. SATA has achieved their goal within a short period and has placed themselves in the number one position in sports played in state and their efforts has immense recognized Sikkim state across the globe, added Secretary.
“I would like to see that our State represents the Indian team in the up coming Asian Games” stated Secretary and added that ‘I wish the journey gets fruitful and would come out with flying colors’.
Total of 80 players both boys and girls from four districts participated from MCM Dojang Whitehall, Namchi Taekwondo Dojang, Daffodil School Gangtok, Tashi Namgyal Academy; Tadong Senior Secondary School including JDS Memorial Taekwondo Dojang Kalimpong.
The competition started by 9am and ended around 3pm. Sub-Junior, juniors, seniors and Master were the four categories under which the competition took place. MCM Dojang Whitehall, Gangtok was placed in 1st position in the team championship, 2nd position was occupied by Namchi Taekwondo Dojang and the 3rd position by Daffodil School, Gangtok during the day long event today.
During the competition, Chief State Coach of SATA, Mr. Trilok Subba said that, the main idea of conducting the competition is to hunt and promote the young budding players of the Sikkim.
