GANGTOK, September 12: The third Himalayan Aquatic Championship began today here at Tashi Namgyal Academy with participation from students of schools like St. Augustine’s School, Kalimpong, Dr. Graham Homes, North Point School, Taktse International School, Paljor Namgyal Girls Senior Secondary School, Academia, Nimtar, SASA and TNA.
Today’s event was attended by State Tourism Minister Bhim Dhungel as the chief guest. Also present were the school Principal AC Rai, members of SASA and respective coaches of the participating teams. The day one featured 30 events under five divisions senior boys, sub junior boys , senior girls, men and women 4*50 medley relay junior girls which included 100 mts free style , 100m individual medley, butterfly stroke , breast stroke, free style and back stroke.
The day two events will feature 22 events under various categories including 25m free style (promo) girls, 25m freestyle promo boys, coach 25m free style etc.
