Sikkim Speaker visits Syari


Gangtok,Sep8 : The tourism sector has been galloping at an unprecedented growth rate. The entire tourism policy of the Government is now driven by the mantra of making Sikkim the number one Eco-tourism destination in India. With this objective in mind, the State Government has made special efforts to develop tourist villages, trekking routes, adventure activities, bio-diversity parks, hotels and cultural centers in the state.
To develop and promote tourism in 23 Syari constituency, the State Assembly Speaker Mr. K.T. Gyaltsen, who is also the Area MLA, visited his constituency on September 7. Secretary, tourism, Mr. S.B.S. Bhadauria, senior government officials and local Panchayats accompanied him. The Speaker started his visit from Chandmari where he first visited the Panch Nageshwari Shyivalaya there. Renovation, protective walls and proper fencing of the Mandir were the demands of the local people which he assured he will look into. Next, he visited Maney Khola where he asked the Secretary Tourism to develop falls, cafeteria and waiting sheds for tourist attraction. Besides, he said that the Chandmari-Bhusuk road needs to be developed and maintained as this road will also solve the problem of an alternate highway to Pakyong.
Later in the evening, the Speaker visited the Shiv Mandir at the bank of river Bhusuk, lower Syari.
He advised the Secretary to construct a suspension bridge over Bhusuk river. He rounded off his visit by offering prayers at Nandok Maney Lhakhang Gumpa where he suggested to the officials to construct the village footpath. (IPR)
