Sikkim celebrates Vishwa Karma Puja



Gangtok,Sep17: Vishwa Karma is the God of Creation. On the 17th. September every year the festival is celebrated by all industrial houses, artists, craftsmen, and weavers. The tools utilized during production are cleaned and all machinery are repainted. The the statue of Vishwakarma holding a hammer are erected in workshops. People are also found to be seen putting colourful ballons and flags on their vehicles.
This festival like  every year is being celebrated all over Sikkim in  honor of Vishwa Karma-The God of Machines. Statues of diety Vishwa-Karma are put up in temporary sheds called pandals and worshipped especially by those who are involved in handling machines like drivers and mechanics.
In Gangtok, Vishwakarma puja celebrations especially took place in Tashiling Secretariat where Sikkim Government Driver Association has put up a huge Pandal along with free lunch for all their participants .Sikkim Fire Service station in Gangtok has organised puja pandal along with exhibition and display of fire fighting equipments,machines and uniforms to create awareness among people about fire fighting services along with similar celebrations at Sikkim Police H.Q. building.
The Power department has also organised a colourfully decorated pandal at DPH station along with musical programme and lighting of buildings.
