GANGTOK, September 13 (IPR): The Council of Ministers of government of Sikkim met on September 11 at Tashiling Secretariat and after detailed deliberations approved a slew of proposals of various departments.
Food Security & Agriculture department
Approved & sanctioned Rs. 1850 lakhs for macro management of agriculture for the year 2009-10.
Social Justice, Empowerment &Welfare department
Sanctioned Rs. 14.98 Crores for various welfare schemes viz. old age, widow and disability pension schemes.
Approved revised cost of Rs. 110.85 lakhs and additional sanction of Rs. 104.04 lakhs for restoration of ancient Buddhist heritage site at Tashiding, West Sikkim
Sanctioned Rs. 79.62 lakhs as second installment to four district Zilla Panchayats towards contribution of 91 ICDs centres
Santioned Rs. 53.50 lakhs under Scheduled Caste Sub Plan and Rs. 120 lakhs under Scheduled Tribe Sub Plan under Food & Security department
Health department
Approved Rs. 85 lakhs for procurement of MDR TB drugs and also approved Rs. 509.59 lakhs for procurement of various medicines directly from manufactures.
Building & Housing department
Accorded revised administrative approval for Rs. 388.53 lakhs along with additional sanction of Rs 94.43 lakhs for construction of composite check post at Melli, South Sikkim
Sanctioned Rs 75.25 lakhs for construction of District Collector’s bungalow at Mangan, North Sikkim
Human Resource Development department
Sanctioned Rs. 35.37 lakhs for release as ancillary grant to government schools
Approved Rs 140 lakhs to release as grant in aid for two Polytechnic institutions
Accorded post facto sanction for Rs 47.77 crores released to Districts and sanctioned Rs 55.17 lakhs as grant in aid to PRIs
Sanctioned Rs 38.78 lakhs as grant in aid for implementation of programmes under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan for the year 2009-10
Commerce & Industries department
Sanctioned Rs. 92.50 lakhs to be released to Sikkim Khadi and Village Industries Board and Rs. 22 lakhs for Government Fruit Preservation Factory
Sanctioned Rs. 100 lakhs as an additional share capital, Rs 35 lakhs for SITCO, Rs. 40 lakhs for Sikkim Jewels, Rs. 10 lakhs for Sikkim Handloom & Handicraft Development Corporation and Rs. 15 lakhs for Sikkim Precision Ltd.
Rural Development & Management department
Sanctioned Rs 32.22 lakhs for acquisition of land with standing properties for construction of PMGSY road from Sisney to Rock Garden under Zoom Block, West Sikkim and sanctioned revised cost of Rs. 120.18 lakhs for upgradation, carpeting etc of road from Kamrang to Kitchuara (2kms).
Forest, Environment & Wildlife Management department
Sanctioned Rs 38.19 lakhs for implementation of wetland conservation and management programme for the year 2009-10
Food & Civil Supplies department
Sanctioned Rs 14.51 lakhs as subsidy for procurement and distribution of rice who were left out from the list of BPL for the month of OCT and November and also sanctioned Rs 4.33 crores for procurement and distribution of subsidizes rice from October 2009 to March 2010 to BPL category.

Approved for implementation of 27 Skill Development Programmes and 2 sector wise programmes at the cost of Rs. 4.90 crores
