Gangtok,Sep15: Sikkim is leading other states of North East in education and has earned a special recognition in the country. Moving a step forward, we have to involve ourselves in Information Technology. Most people think that IT is tough but getting into it, one will find it most easy and ever helpful for mankind as this field has a huge scope. It creates employment for youths. This was said in a press conference by HRD Minister N. K. Pradhan at Chintan Bhawan on Tuesday.
Mr. Pradhan further said, Sikkim has bagged several Bharat Nirman Awards. It has also made remarkable contributions in environment, tourism and road construction thereby making and earning awards. Now it is time for us to work in IT, he said.
“A seminar and conference on Information and Communication Technology will be held from September 17 to 18 here at Chintan Bhawan”, he announced and informed that 50 companies from all over the country will showcase latest computer software and hardware. There will be an interaction on latest technology with leaders in the IT field. Further, discussions will be held on IT tools like security for website. It will benefit physically challenged youths. Career prospects in Call Centres, development of websites for promoting tourism in the state and improving income generation for locals artisans using IT, etc, will be deliberated in the Seminar, the Minister said.

The Government aims at empowering citizens through e-governance and making Sikkim a favorite Information technology destination. With this in mind, the Department of Information Technology, Government of Sikkim has the pleasure of informing you that it is organizing “SIKITEX 09”, a two day IT Fair and Exhibition on 17th and 18th September 2009 at Gangtok –Sikkim.
The broad objective of organizing this event is to bridge the gap between the companies and the customers of all segments. ”SIKITEX 09” will provide market exposure to various companies and enable them to set up business in Sikkim. With rapid modernization taking place in the state ,there is an immense demand for new technologies both in the Government as well as the private sector.
