Rhenock Public Information Campaign starts

Rhenock, September 8 : Bharat Nirman Abhiyan can be successful only if each individual becomes a responsible member of society and the country at large, said Minister for Tourism, Forest, Environment and Wildlife Management, Mines, Minerals and Geology and Science and Technology Departments, Government of Sikkim, Bhim Prasad Dhungel while addressing the inaugural session of the Public Information Campaign at Rhenock Monday.
 He said there are large numbers of schemes which are being funded and implemented by the Central and State Government for the rural areas. These schemes are meant for the upliftment of the villagers and the targeted groups should receive these benefits. People’s participation is required so that implementing agencies can function smoothly. The Minister speaking as chief guest said that qualitative work is desired from the implementing agencies and there should be no compromise in this regard and people should keep strict vigil.
BDO, Rhenock Yadav Sharma said it is a matter of pride the function is being organised at Rhenock and people should take advantage of the programme. Panchayats are already knowledgeable about various schemes and programmes of the government. However, for the smooth implementation of the schemes the public should also become aware. Hence, they should take advantage of the Public Information Campaign.
The five day programme organised by PIB, Gangtok along with media units of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting includes various programmes along with infotainment, exhibition, stalls by self help groups and SSB.
Local cultural groups took active part in the inaugural function. A skit was also performed by ASHI (Sikkim) on drug abuse and HIV/AIDS.
A five day free medical camp organised by Regional Research Centre for Ayurveda, Gangtok was also opened by the Minister. More than two hundred patients were treated on the first day.
