Gangtok, Sept 17 (PTI) In a big upset, defending champions Three Star club from Nepal today crashed out of the 31st All India Governor's Gold Cup football tournament after suffering a narrow defeat at the hands of George Telegraph, Kolkata, in a pulsating quarterfinal encounter here.
Niranjan Khadka was the unfortunate player whose shot in the sudden death sailed over the bar to bring an unexpected defeat for the Nepalese team.
Earlier, the two teams played out a thriller with the score remaining 1-1 at full time and 2-2 at the end of the tie-breaker prompting the sudden death.
The Three Star opened its account in as early as the second minute through Yugal Kishore Rai, but the Kolkatan team came back strongly with NG Beirona scoring the equaliser in the 55th minute
