GANGTOK, August 7: The celebration of Tendong Lho Rum Faat, an indigenous festival of the Lepcha community today began with various competitions at the auditorium of Sikkim Government College, Tadong.
State Power Minister Sonam Gyatso Lepcha, MLA Gnathang Machong Laxuman Lepcha and other dignitaries were present during the function.
Various dance, quiz, debate and flute competitions were organized between the students and the Lepcha organizations.
In his brief address, the State Power Minister said the youths should play a pro active role in preserving their culture, tradition and heritage. He also reminded of various achievements brought by the SDF government for the Lepcha Community in Sikkim.
The Chief Minister Pawan Chamling attended the main celebration on August 8 as Chief guest along with his cabinet members and speaker of Sikkim assembly.
