GANGTOK, August 3: The Badminton Association of Sikkim (BAS) in the recently held meeting in the Indoor Gymnasium Hall here at Paljor Stadium has decided to hold the 21st Sikkim State Badminton Championship from August 27 to 31, 2009.
A press release informs that the date of championship has been preponed based on the National Badminton calendar of BAI wherein as per the directives, all State Association have to complete the State Championship before the Zonal Championship proposed to be held on September 9 to 12, 2009.
As the State Association has to send/take participants for the zonal championship, the date has to be preponed to provide sufficient days for selection and training of participants for the North East Zonal Championship 2009 from September 9 to 12 at Guwahati, Assam, said a press statement of the association.
Anyone willing to participate in the forthcoming championship are also informed that all district sports association will select players in order of rankings and submit the list to BAS. It has further been decided that no player shall be permitted to participate without the due recommendation of the district authorities.
