20th Foundation Day celebration of Rhenock Educational Society


We need quality teachers for quality education: NK Pradhan

GANGTOK, August 12: State Human Resource Development (HRD) minister NK Pradhan today underlined the need for disciplined quality teachers to usher in quality education in Sikkim.
“Education is being given a top priority here in Sikkim by the State government”, said Mr. Pradhan. He said that the responsibility for quality education automatically goes to quality teachers.
Unless we have quality teachers, we won’t be moving an inch towards quality education, said the HRD minister during his address at the 10th Foundation Day Celebrations of Colleges managed by Rhenock Educational Society (RES) at Himalayan Pharmacy Institute, Majitar. He was the chief guest on the occasion.
Regarding the quality education, Mr. Pradhan said the colleges managed by RES plays a very important role for having quality education in Sikkim. There are five educational institutes under RES- Himalayan Pharmacy Institute, Damber Singh Degree College, Harkya Maya College of Education, Five Ways and a branch of NIIT.
The HRD minister also called for discipline among teachers and students. Discipline must be learnt by students and teachers especially the latter, he said. Discipline is the key to the profession you are about to enter, he told the students of B.Ed college of RES.
Earlier, Mr. Pradhan who is also the president of Sikkim Bharat Scouts & Guides conducted an executive meeting of the unit executive members at the seminar hall of Himalayan Pharmacy Institute.
Information and Public Relations (IPR) minister Neeru Sewa, who was the guest of honour on the occasion, expressed her pride over the successes of RES. “I am proud that RES is doing a marvelous job in developing human resource silently and steadily,” she said.
Miss Sewa also credited RES for providing employment to locals in large numbers while congratulating RES, director, principals and staffs.
Dr. HP Chettri, director of RES placed the welcome address on the occasion.
Prizes and certificates were also presented to the winners of various competitive events held in the buildup to the foundation day celebrations.
