St. Stephen’s enters quarterfinals
NEW DELHI: Rashid Waris’s 11th minute goal steered St. Stephen’s School (Chandigarh) to 1-0 win over Namchi Sports Hostel (Sikkim) and into the quarterfinals of the Subroto Cup U-14 football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Saturday.
St. Stephen will meet Government Mizo Higher Secondary School, Aizwal, Mizoram.
In other matches, Government Co-education School (Jalandhar) defeated AIST Joseph’s College (Sri Lanka) 14-0 with Manpreet scoring six goals. Varinder and Jagjit scored three goals apiece and Amit Pal struck a brace. SAI (Lucknow) trounced IPSC Gujarat 11-0 and Government Middle School, Tamaloo, Carnocobar, beat Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan, Vadodara, 6-0 in a Group IV match.
