Dr. Pawan Chamling Interacts with SDF Panchayat Candidates


Namchi,October7: Sikkim Chief Minister who has just returned to his home town Namchi from New york ,USA where he has attended incredible india @ 60 celebrations as well as participated in North East India Investors Conference held on September26 and successfully made American investors familiar with Sikkim and its Geo-political importance and features and fields where state is seeking potential investments to carry on sustainable developmental activities.

Chief Minister Dr. Chamling has met uncontested winners of SDF Panchayat members in Namchi and exchanged information of on ground political situation developing in South and West Districts as regards to rural elections scheduled to be held on October 26. He asked elected Panchayats to further improve the panchayati raj across the Sikkim.He also interacted with SDF panchayat candidates in south and west districts of Sikkim .This is also first panchayat elections in state after Sikkim Democratic Front government under Dr.Chamling reserved 40% quota for women candidates in Sikkim.The state government has been allocating 70 per cent of its budget for the rural sector.

Sikkim has earlier secured the third position under the Panchayat awards scheme initiated by the Union ministry, Mani ShankarAiyar . Sikkim chief minister has opened panchayat windows in every department of the state government so that transfer of funds in respect of the devolved function takes place easily.
