GANGTOK, October 09: A 50 year old man who fell off from the staircase on October 7 succumbed to injuries on forehead, face and chest on October 8.
When the incident occurred, police reports suggest that Ravi Pradhan, resident of Kurseong was in an inebriated state when he reached his room at about 9 pm and fell from the concrete staircase adjacent to the house located at Lower Arithang.
Local people rushed to the accident site and evacuated the victim to the Central Referral Hospital, 5th Mile where he could not sustain for long.
Police say that he was presently residing with his uncle at Lower Arithang Gangtok for the last six months. He was unemployed and a habitual drunker, reports say.
Later, the dead body was handed over to the legal parents after autopsy.
The case has been registered under section 174 CrPC and is under investigation
