BJP PRESIDENT WRITE TO 'PM' ON DZONGU ISSUE


Gangtok,October5: In a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, BJP President Rajnath Singh On October 3,2007 has requested him to direct government of Sikkim for not to immediately implement hydel projects in Dzongu region of North Sikkim and also to despatch a central team consisting of prominent environmentalist , religious and scientific leaders to study the matter raised by the people of Dzongu through the protests on platform provided by the Affected Citizens of Teesta. The developmental projects should not be taken up ignoring the emotional and religious attachment of the local people of Dzongu as issue seems to have similarity to the project of Ram-Setu as raised by BJP as per information received


The BJP President has written to Prime Minister after getting a detailed brief from BJP leader Hitendra Prasad who was deputed to tour and gather first hand information on the matter of Dzongu after a delegation of lepcha people called on Shri Rajnath Singh in New Delhi to apprise him in details of Dzongu issue and religious importance of it to lepcha tribe.
