Trainning in Sikkim On Value Based Education


Gangtok : The day after Chief Minister, Dr. Pawan Chamling emphasized on value based education in his speech on the occasion of teachers’ day, a two day training programme on Value Based Education for the Heads of Senior Secondary and Secondary schools form all over the state was held at Palzor Namgyal Girls Senior Secondary School.The two day workshop is organized by State Institute of Education (SIE), Department of Human Resource Development; Government of Sikkim in association with SMRTI a Chennai based NGO which is an associate of United Nations. During the course of this workshop they will teach how to impart the value based education to students and make them capable and competent individuals in every respect.Mr. R. Telang, Secretary, Horticulture Department who graced the function as the chief guest said that it was ironic that in today’s age a training programme on value based education is being held when education it self is so valuable. He also urged the Principals and Headmasters gathered for the workshop to give education to the students in such a way that they not only gain knowledge, but it should also make them strong internally, which will be of an utmost importance in building a character of an individual.Dr. Sita from SMRTI while highlighting on the need of value based education said that meditation was very important for human integration which will lead the individual towards the light of knowledge.Addl. Secretary, HRDD, Mr. Rudra Poudyal also shared and expressed his views and opinion on the topic.Earlier, Mr. R.B Kumar ,Joint Director, SIE in his welcome address welcomed all the guests and hoped that they will be able to gain something from this workshop which they can impart on their students.
