Sikkim Girl Crowned Mega Miss North East 2007

Gangtok ,September 12: Mega Miss North East 2007 Pageant was held recently at a glittering function in the at ITA Cultural Complex, Machkhowa, in Guwahati .The event saw Miss Geetanjali Thapa from Sikkim walking away with the title Mega Miss North East 2007 1st runners-up position went to Catherine Rose Humtso of Nagaland followed by Ms Monalisa R. Marak of Meghalaya as the second runners-up in thebeauty pageant .

“They say if you want to dream, dream big and I have moulded my life around this mantra,” said 16-year-old Priyanka, who is among the 23 damsels participating in the Mega Miss North East 2007. It was only last year when she expressed her desire to pursue her career in modelling when a former Miss NE made a visit to the SOS village.“She definitely has it in her to become the face of India and that is why she has been shortlisted for the NE beauty pageant, which is the most prestigious beauty contest in the region,” said Abhijeet Singha, managing director, Mega Miss NE Group.“Today, beauty contests are not about beauty but it is the blend of beauty and brain that does the trick. Surely, almost all the participants of Mega Miss NE beauty pageant have this in them,” Singha added. The winner of the beauty pageant, which is began from September 8, would be giving direct entry to the ensuing Femina Miss India beauty pageant.“Besides, there are several prizes for the winner of the contest.
The crown given to the winner is especially designed in Bangkok,” informed Singha.The NE beauty was participated by models from across the region.
