PRASHANT TAMANG : Brand Ambassador of the Sikkim


Gangtok,Sept. 12 (PTI): The entire Sikkim& Darjeeling hill is upbeat over a possible success of Gorkha singer Prasant Tamang featuring among the last two aspirants of the 'Indian idol' television singing talent contest.
GNLF chief Subash Ghising, AIGL Chairman Madan Tamang and CPM MP Suraj Pathak have urged the hill people to send SMS in favour of the Darjeeling-born singer.
The largest circulated Nepali daily 'Himalayan Darpan' has formed a Prasant Fan Club here this week and launched a campaign for the singer who has only Amit Paul of Meghalaya to beat for the title.
Meanwhile, Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling declared Prasant as Brand Ambassador of the Himalayan state yesterday.
Run on Sony TV twice a week, the popular programme is an Indian version of British 'Pop Idol' show.

The Prashant's Mother Rupa Tamang accompanied by sister Archana Tamang and two members of Kolktta Police Orchestra has reached Gangtok after campaigning in support of Prashant Tamang before the people of South & West Sikkim where a massive campaign in favour of Prashant Tamang is underway. The Prashant Fan Group from Namchi has already committed Votes through PCOs amounting to Rs. 1 Crore in favour of Prashant Tamang in the finals .Meanwhile a meeting was also held in Baluwakhani ,Gangtok in presence of family of Prashant Tamang where plans were discussed to launch all out campaign to support hill idol.

later in evening, Mother Rupa Tamang & Sister Archana Tamang has met Chief Minister of Sikkim Dr. Pawan Chamling to record their formal thanks through a letter on behalf of Prashant Tamang for voicing his support for Prashant and as well as for appointing him brand ambassador of Sikkim.
