Northeast India Must Enhance Transportation to Become Ideal Tourist Destination
Newyork,27-Sep-2007: While Northeast India has several wildlife habitats and IT resources, government officials say the region must further develop its infrastructure in order to generate tourism. Plans are already underway, India’s Deputy Chairman Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia says, to build thousands of kilometers of roads and numerous airport hubs. However, unlike other regions, Ahluwalia says the northeast sector must rely primarily on public investments rather than public/private partnerships. Ahluwalia was joined by other business and government officials at an Incredible India@ 60 conference in New York City on Sept. 26.
