GANGTOK, Sept. 13: Sikkim chief minister Mr Pawan Chamling today declared Prashant Tamang, one of the two Indian Idol finalists, as brand ambassador of the Gorkha community."We are proud to make Prashant the brand ambassador of Gorkhas. He has given us reasons to cheer," Mr Chamling, said. He appealed to the people of the state to vote for Prashant one last time and make him the Indian idol. Prashant's fans claimed here today that lakhs of people voted for the singer from the state yesterday. "We are very thankful to the people of Sikkim. I would make sure that Prashant visits Sikkim after the completion of the music competition," Prashant's mother Mrs Rupa Tamang, said.The enthusiasm in the state is such that people from rural areas have sold their cattle and other belongings to collectmoney, purchase mobile recharge vouchers and vote for their idol ~ Prashant Tamang.Meanwhile, members of various social organisations and associations are campaigning in the state to ensure votes for Prashant.Members of the Sikkim Taxi Drivers' Association have also joined the campaign.
