Darjeeling Lepchas’ hunger-strike for Dzongu


Darjeeling: To protest against the upcoming hydroeletric projects at Dzongu in North Sikkim, the youth wing of Darjeeling Lepcha Association started indefinite huger-strike today here at Chowkbazaar, Darjeeling. Hunger-strike will remain on until they get a positive assurance from chief minister of Sikkim, Dr. Pawan Kumar Chamling.Representatives from Darjeeling youth Lepcha association Mr. Nima Lepcha, Prem T Lepcha, Norden Lepcha and Samden Foning Lepcha are participating in indefinite hunger strike at Chowkbazaar.Kalimpong Lepcha association also has been on indefinite hunger-strike for the same cause. ACT (Affected Citizen of Teesta) had already launched their 63 days hunger strike at Sikkim.
