A commendable initiativeGangtok: The Government of Sikkim under capacity building programme has sent a group of 25 Panchayaat members from West Sikkim on a week-long ‘study tour’ of Himachal Pradesh. They will also see how the panchayat raj system is contributing to the development of people and villages in Himachal Pradesh ,a state geographically and socially identifiable with Sikkim in many aspects.
SikkimPanchayats are now geared to real issues - drinking water, fuel, health and local problems and Tour of Himachal Pradesh would certainly add to their capacity and confidence in tackling local problems as per government officials.
