SIKKIMELI MAHILAS PETITION DC EAST

Gangtok: A 24 members delegation of Sikkmeli Mahila yesterday submitted a memorandum to District Collectorate (East) protesting against what they see as the 'undemocratic activities' of Opposition parties .
A 3 point letter contends that Opposition parties -Congress,BJP,SHRPP and CPI-M and other organisations like ACT and SAFE had the right to carry out their activities but should do so with in democratic norms and respect rule of law .
Reacting to burning of effigy of Sikkim Governor by Congress members the letter reminds that the Governor is the constitutional head for the state, and such disrespect towards his office was anti-national.The Memorandum to DC urges him to ensure that such episodes does not repeat in future.
On the activities of the ACT and SAFE,the letter alleges that these organisations were being instigated by the Opposition parties and had even hosted a website, which they allege, has been launched with the intentions to tarnish the image of State.
The Opposition parties ,the memorandum , alleges was not only trying foment communal tensions and but also inviting forces from outside the state to vitiate the peace in Sikkim.
On the burning an effigy of the Chief Minister by SHRP members yesterday ,the memorandum alleges that the Opposition parties were moving with a single point agenda of -"Badnam Gara Abhiyan".

The letter has urged that the district administration remains vigilant against such design and ensures that these agencies are not allowed to compromise either development or peace in Sikkim.
