Sikkim High Court Accepts CBI Appeal against N.B. Bhandari


Gangtok : The High Court of Sikkim yesterday admitted the criminal appeal filed by the CBI against the acquittal of former Chief Minister Nar Bahadur Bhandari on charge of corruption by the Special Judge under Prevention of Corruption Act at Namchi on March 21,2007 involving his Yaksha residence located at Ranipool,near Gangtok.

On July18,CBI filed an appeal in the High Court of Sikkim against acquittal of Mr.Bhandari.

The Chief Justice Shri A.N.Ray of Sikkim High Court found the CBI appeal 'as deemed fit for admission' after an hour of arguments by counsels of both sides presenting their case .The Chief Justice ,after hearing counsels from both sides, remarked that there was scope of the argument in the case and allowed the leave petition filed by the CBI in the interests of the Justice.
