Rain damages 3 houses in the Namchi




South Sikkim: Rain, Rain Go Away!


Namchi: Heavy downpour over the South District headquarters in last 48 hours has visibly impacted the foundations of some residential buildings located under Tinzir block. The SDM Namchi Shri B.K. Tamang in an early morning inspection to the area has confirmed that three concrete buildings located at crossroads towards Jorethang and towards Kamrang College are under risk to develop severe structural damage resulting from heavy rains as the posts/pillars of these three houses showing visible stress.The road below these houses also developed cracks from the rain of night of August 17.

The SDM Shri Tamang provided instant emergency relief by way of distributing tarpaulin sheets to cover various spots in the affected houses to prevent further damage from downpour. The cash relief of Rs.2000/-each was also distributed to all 3 families of B.K.Rai, K.N.Ojha, and Y.K.Pradhan.

Apart from this,Melli-Phongla road also suffered a landslide last night as per reports.
