SHRP WRITES TO PRESIDENT OF INDIA


Gangtok: Sikkim Himali Rajya Parishad informed to local media that it has submitted a 18 points letter to President of India Madam Pratibha Patil highlighting the Sikkim Government's failure in preventing the continuation of hunger strike by ACT, problem of drug abuse, arrests of political members of Opposition parties, failure of Sikkim Governor to act on Memorandum submitted to him by Opposition parties in State,Rising numbers of Suicide cases etc.


Announcing this SHRP leader also announced that a copy of same is being forwarded to Union state home minister Prakash Jaiswal. Outlining the Opposition strategy he said the alliance of Opposition parties in Sikkim would continue to raise issues of hunger strike,failure of Governor to use his special powers to sort out the issue of Dzongu and not meeting in person to hunger strikers despite such a long time and carry forward their protests at all levels.
