SGPP WITHDREW SUPPORT FROM ACT

GANGTOK, August 13: Sikkim Gorkha Prajatantrik Party (SGPP) in a meeting held today announced that the party will be not be supporting the Affected Citizen of Teesta (ACT) in their fight against hydro power projects in Sikkim.
“Since we always demanded the scraping of prohibition of entry permit in Dzongu for everybody, we will definitely not support the agenda of ACT,” GM Rai, President, SGPP has said in a press release issued by the party.
Mentioning about the party’s main vision to unite the OBCs and NBCs of Sikkim with the provision of full social and political rights, Mr Rai in a press release has demanded for equal status between the NBC and OBC. “All NBC after identifying as OBC by the Central Government should be treated with par with other OBCs of Sikkim,” says the release.
The party president has also appealed all the people of Sikkim to cast their votes for the SGPP candidates for the forthcoming Panchayat elections assuring “if we get a mandate in the elections, a special case will be registered against those who have made the Gorkhas of Sikkim deprived of various facilities and benefits.”
